  1. Fantastic characters, I read all six books in four days. Only slightly fast than the sequence of events in the books. Just couldn’t put them down no matter how hard I tried. Any thing you write in the future will be a joy to imagine.

  4. I just wanted to drop in and say that I love your Spy Series. I had them done in only a few days, I just couldn’t stop reading them. I really am cheering though for John and Ayden!! Driving me crazy wanting to know if it will happen! 🙂 Thank you for writing such a great series!!

    • LOL! To tell you the truth, even I don’t know how that’s going to turn out. My characters keep surprising me – when I wrote the first book, it was supposed to be a single novel, and Aydan and John were supposed to get together about half-way through. I turned my back on Aydan for a minute and next thing I knew she was hooking up with Hellhound (who was only supposed to be a “throwaway” character), and her other adventures were knocking at my mental doors. I guess we’ll all have to wait and see what happens. 😉

  7. Loved the books. I have laughed & cried with all involved. My writing isn’t as correct as it should be. I found the first one then down loaded the rest from I-book. Read all straight thru. Had back surgery so can’t do gardening and other stuff I like to do. In my 60’s so have done alot. Enjoying life, kids, & great grand kids. Waiting for #7 like everyone else. Also recommended you to others. Keep enjoying life.

  9. Good grief! It’s for certain I have an addiction to the characters in your stories when I wake up before dawn with match-ups for them. Sheesh.
    John and Ayden for sure, of course Spider has Linda, I think Tom and Dr. Honey would be perfect since he’s a first responder anyway (it could work real good) and the show stopper would be…..drum roll please……ARNIE and NICHELLE! LOL Nichelle has only referred to Arnie a couple of times and wasn’t impressed with his looks. However, I can’t see her and Dave really going anywhere but I can see her coming into town and going to Blue Eddy’s to meet Ayden. Of course Ayden is late and Arnie is there to play his guitar. He spots Nichelle and they talk, he plays some music with her in mind and ZING! She brings him out of his “shell” and his “safe spot” and majick does indeed happen. hahaha I like tidy, happy endings that have the potential for spin-offs! Aaaaah, I can now have my coffee.

      • Haha, too true. I remember Nichele telling Ayden that she was over men in suits after the “James” incident and thought it would be neat if those two totally opposites could show up together. I have fun being the fictional matchmaker even tho’ my matches never would work. Fun anyway. I finished my “re-reads” and am resting my eyes for awhile. The story lines are great especially the “Fuzzy Bunny” aspect. I don’t want to hold you up from completing #7! I can’t believe I have been so taken with a book series as I am with this one. Just fantastic.

  10. I’ve posted before and I don’t mean to just “gush” on but, holy cow! I’m into my 2nd read (actually 3rd on book 1) of the series and I am still awed. I still laugh out loud at Ayden’s comments and the situations that occur. Her opinion of the bicycle seat after riding 10 miles on the stolen bike made me laugh till I cried! The situation when Kane had her and Hellhound in the hotel room, trying to make her “talk” makes me laugh over and over again. This series is simply priceless. You are one talented lady Ms. Henders, for sure. I’m 70 now and can also appreciate a good looking man (as one of your other posters said) and the action of all these characters working together and off of each other is just amazing. As others have said, I am so counting the days until the next one is ready. Thanks for the update on it too! I’m smiling in anticipation. LOL

    Boy am I glad that I found your first book on Amazon.com! Have had a hard time not just sitting around and reading all day! I’m on Book 5 already and while I’m supposed to be packing to move on July 25, I still have time to spend with my books. I love to read and find your adventures so exciting. The cast of characters, the surroundings I can just envision in my mind. I’m older than you are but still enjoy an interesting man! In fact, it’s almost like you’ve met my man who is everything you say about Kane/Hellhound put together. Yummy. I will be so sad if you ever kill anyone off since I find even the bad guys I love to hate. Keep the thread going, I find the adventure, spy, mystery combo, very refreshing. The fact that you’re not just a pretty face, but a can-do woman is wonderful for your character. I don’t swear that much, but am working on it!

    Have introduced my sister to your books too and she is just barely behind me on the reading, she’s supposed to be packing too! We have joined forces to build a house together with a lovely space for a garden. We’ve been at it since Dad built us a playhouse way back when. Our first efforts were calla lilies and iris. Have built several beautiful gardens over the years from scratch and look forward to the next one. Looking forward to fresh veggies if we triumph over the bugs and the bunnies.

    When we get moved and get our act together I’ll send out website and blog link. We make jewelry that we like and find others who do as well–one of a kind, and home decorating items, mostly made of silk. Did I mention that I worked for a wonderful quality fabric store for 13 years! Do I have a stash. Have also been a spinner-knitter for many years and now that I’m retired, look forward to having time to create. Also in the works is getting a chapter of Care To Knit (Knitting for charity) going in my town under the umbrella of my sister’s group in Calif. She is part of the organization there. So much to do, we will never be bored.

    Can’t close before I say how sorry I was to hear of the troubles in Calgary. It sounds so strange to hear about flooding in the summer, it just isn’t right. We have had our share of troubles here in the States this year too. It sounds like the community is pulling together and all will be well in time.

  13. NEVER SAY SPY – SO MUCH FUN! Great entertainment. Love the heroine – full of courage and daring action – a girl on her own to relate to all of us ladies living on our own and fending for ourselves! I only wish I had even half of Aydan’s physical fitness… The story is full of intrigue and twisting turns, dangerous escapades, and lusty comments appreciating the opposite sex. Great sexy scenes – a real treat. I suppose the guys appreciate it, too. I can only speak from my own female perspective! I’ll be following the series to share more adventures with tall, red haired and good looking Aydan, and hopefully John will still be in the picture. He sounds delicious.
    I’m a native Californian on her way to relocate in Idaho. My Idaho sister lent me this book, and I’m hooked on the series now. Can’t wait to get to #2 …
    I think you made the right career choice, Diane. Your story telling is excellent!

  15. I just finished reading “Never Say Spy” for the second time. I had gotten it on Amazon some months back, left a review and almost got it again, having let it slip my mind about the first time! Getting old does that to a person. Anytime a story grabs me so thoroughly that I read it twice, or more, I think it deserves a special place in my collection. This was so well written, so detailed in suspense and action, so breath taking with the emotional turbulence that Ayden was going through that I just couldn’t put it down, again! Kudos Ms. Henders, I will definitely be searching out more of your books.

      • I have not only finished the series I have started reading them all over again! With good stories, that is easy to do and these stories are thrilling each time. I always spot something I may have missed before. Hard to pick out one favorite character, John is indeed “delicious”, Arnie is just plain “hot”, Spider is just too cute for words, Ayden is a superb example of independent womanhood. Shoot, I even like Gen’l. Briggs and Stemp! LOL All fantastic characters, each and all. I’m practically counting down the days until the next installment comes out.

  16. I downloaded your first book as a Freebie off of Amazon and I’ve read the rest of the books over the last week. I have really enjoyed them and can’t wait for the next one. I’m hoping you give Aydan a bit of a holiday or break in the next one though as I’m feeling a little sorry for her because of the amount she has dealt with in such a short time. You have drawn me in with your strong, witty and vulnerable character and I can’t wait to read more about her.

    I love your books. I have read all six, can hardly wait for #7. I have laughed, cried, been excited and tense, while reading. As for the men in Ms. Kelley life, I love both Kane and Hellhound. I believe both are needed for her to remain happy. I have an active imagination and can see the story in my head while reading. I love the visuals I get from your writing. I would have to give five stars to all six so far.

  19. Hi Diane! I started reading your books 3 days ago…. Have not been able to stop, I’m starting book 3 today! Needless to say I’m loving them! I just wanted to thank you for such entertaing and unique stories, I usually don’t read spy novels but you’ve made me a convert. I have the whole series downloaded, so I’m going to keep reading, ignore my husband, try not to skip any meals and just enjoy them!

    I just had to tell you how much I loved reading “Never Say Spy”. I love your main character, Aydan Kelly. You have a wicked, sharp, and refreshing sense of humor. Being a person who doesn’t watch her language, I can relate to some of Aydan’s outbursts. I just wish I had her creativity!! I don’t know how many times I laughed so hard I was crying but…let’s just say it was several!! I can’t wait to read more of your wonderful stories. You are a great writer and I just became a fan.   23. I read the first book Never Say Spy in less than 2 days and I was hooked! It was a free book on my nook so I read the reviews. All the comments said it was worth the read. So I am now reading How Spy I Am. I am almost done with it. I love your style of writing, you not only put humor in these you make the main characters lovable. I hope you keep writing the way you do. I can’t wait to read the rest of your books. I will be waiting for book 7 when it comes out.

  25. Hi from sunny Adelaide, South Australia. Have only recently discovered your books and am hooked. Nice to have a heroine who is assertive without being arrogant, and really enjoy the interaction between the characters. I am soooo over insipid and annoying female characters who either swoon at the slightest provocation, or are superhuman in their infalliblity. It’s even made my bookkeeping job feel a bit more cool!   28. Just finished reading Never say spy. Have to admit, I tried it because it looked interesting, but was free. Most free books seem to be worth the price, but your book was a happy exception. Ayden is a great character, and a strong “middle aged” woman is unusual, to put it mildly. I will definately buy the rest. Just a quick aside, you asked for typos or errors. One small one was the reference to Marilyn “Munroe”. Her last name was spelled “Monroe”. I saw a few others, but not sure if they were typos or differences in usage between American and Canadian english. Please continue the excellent work.

    just finished reading all six books one after the other and I was glued to my kindle sometimes till four in the morning despite having to be at work for ten the next day and no sleep. I enjoyed them would rather see Aydan hook up with John as spies with benefits and Hellhound just become a very good friend to Aydan. Thanks for the good read and looking forward to book seven.

I love your books, they really hit all the emotional spots throught all your books…laughs, love, fear, loss etc. You are in my top 5 writers (John Sandford, Michael Connelly, John Locke and Janet Evanovich). I love your imagination and your ability to paint a picture with your words. I love the ebb and flow of the books, they are never boring in spots waiting for the next action sequence. The pacing is good and they really flow along nicely. Thanks and I can hardly wait for number 7!!

      Thanks for asking! Smashwords supplies my e-books to B&N, they just shipped Book 6 this morning. They say B&N can take up to two weeks to get books up on their site, but in my experience it’s been much faster than that.

      I’ve just changed the format for my new book notification lists, so if you signed up on the old list (which was just a general “as soon as it’s out” list), I’ll switch you over into the Nook notification list instead.

      I’m sorry for the delay – I wish there was a way to release simultaneous versions, but there isn’t at the moment. Maybe in time for Book 7… 🙂

    I just finished reading all 5 books (in less than a week) and absolutely loved them! I especially loved the vulnerability and human-ness (if that’s even a word) of all the characters. Ayden’s a mess, John struggles mainly with himself…they are all so funny, real and raw. I can’t wait for book 6!

  40. Ok, I’m HOOKED on your wonderful spy series!!! I just read #5, LOVED it!! I can hardly wait for the next one! As a middle aged female myself I felt like my age wasn’t that bad, then, along with the bawdy tease between Ayden and Hellhound which is ssoo politically incorrect, which I loved, the handy person and the aversion to dressing up it really blended!! I couldn’t stop reading, then as soon as I finished one book I had to get the next!! You just made my day!! I cried, I laughed, it was GREAT!!!

    I found your first book as an ebook free on bn.com, and have now purchased the rest in Nook format. I can see the technical editor in your work; I am one, too. Have never had the kind of inspiration you have had, though.
    I enjoy your works. They’re a little heavy on the sex for me, but I understand that’s what sells . . .
    So glad to see someone who has found their calling besides what we do to make a living, whether we like it or not. 🙂

  44. Just finished Never Say Spy and loved it! I am a voracious reader – generally reading anywhere from 3-7 books per week – and I am thrilled when I find a new author and and a series that combines all my favorites – mystery, comedy, interesting characters with good development, and relationship-developing-romance-and/or sex. You and this series are DEFINITELY being added to my “read more of” list. The marketing strategy of giving the first one free is definitely going to pay off in my case (and with lots of other people, I’m sure) because now that you’ve impressed me with the freebie, it’s only right that I “pay to play” for the rest of the series. 🙂 One more thing – like Spider, I am TRULY impressed with your unique combination of colorful words (and I live with a factory worker so I thought I knew them all)! LOL

      • I have the rest of the series loaded and ready for reading on my Nook. I made myself read another book before I let myself open The Spy is Cast. I just finished that book so I can start reading Book 2 now. Yay!

        It was definitely a laugh that came out when I read the “creative” language. 🙂 Several years ago my husband was very ticked off about something at work and used numerous variations of the “F” word in rapid succession when telling me about it. He was not pleased when I burst out laughing. All I could say was, “Sorry, but Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone use the F word for that many parts of speech in one sentence before!” When he thought about what he’d said, he started laughing, too. 🙂

    • Hi Jolene! Thanks – I’ve been having great fun with the books. I never expected to be an author, and then all of a sudden I’d written three novels. Go figure. Never Say Spy (the first one in the series) is free in the e-book version right now if you want to give it a try. Even if you don’t have an e-reader, you can download free software so you can read e-books on your computer – try Adobe Digital Reader or download Kindle for PC from Amazon.

    • Thanks for visiting, Noelle! Yes, we have Halloween, here, too. It’s usually pretty cold by then, though, so all the little kids’ costumes have to be big enough to fit over snowsuits when they go trick-or-treating.
