    • Hi Donna! It’s great to “meet” another brown-eyed redhead of a certain age! I’m so glad you loved the books and got to be Aydan for a while. (From the safety of your home, of course — that’s the best way to have adventures of Aydan’s sort.)

Thanks for taking the time to drop by and brighten my day, and let’s hope COVID ends soon. Stay well! 🙂

Hi Diane I first read Bk1 6 or 7 years ago, but liked it enough to keep on my kindle to reread. By the time I was on my 3rd or maybe 4th reread (about 2-3 yrs back) I decided I had to get Bk2. I have now downloaded all the Never say Spy series including A Spy for Help – have already read it twice and the other books a number of times – I always pick up something new! Looking fwd to reading Bk16. Enjoy the books very much, love the fact the main characters are ‘middle aged’ which I can ID with – at 67 I still class myself as middle aged! They make me laugh out loud or shiver – for whatever reason! 🙂 I can understand about how you 2nd guess yourself when your job or life changes – at 50 I became a teacher and worked with teenagers and at 60 we moved to the other side of the world. So I love a heroine who has those 2nd thoughts and makes mistakes but manages to work things out right – with (gorgeous) help and characters that feel very real
Keep on the good writing and I’ll keep on downloading and enjoying

    • Thanks, Anne! Wow, it’s so cool to hear that Book 1 had enough staying power to get you going on the rest of the series. And it makes my day to hear that the books stand up to re-reading, and that you keep finding new things each time! You certainly had some big life changes to navigate, so I can see how you’d identify with Aydan’s situation.

Sixty-seven is middle-aged as far as I’m concerned! At 85, one of my aunts still considered herself middle-aged — she’d go over and shovel the snow off her 90-year-old neighbour’s walk “because she’s elderly, you know”. 😉 So here’s to a nice long middle age!

Thank you so much for taking the time to drop by and comment – I really appreciate it!

    Dear Diane,
Just finished the latest book, and as usual could not put it down!! I cannot find words to express how much I have enjoyed this series, I was so thrilled when I saw a new book was out and as usual, I was completely absorbed to the end! Your writing is magnificent, I truly get swept away into the plot with the characters, who now seem as if they are long lost friends. Thank you for “taking me away” once again, especially in these uncertain “pandemic days”. As always, can’t wait for the next adventure!

    Stay well and thank you!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! It’s wonderful to hear that you got swept up in the story. I love writing Aydan and the gang, so it makes my day to know that they feel like old friends to you. And if it gave you a short escape from the worries of this crappy pandemic, so much the better! 🙂

You stay well, too; and thanks again for dropping by to comment!

  6. I’ve downloaded the audio book again it’s my new bedtime story (previous was a whinnie the pooh, which didn’t actually put me to sleep) I have a feeling it might take quite a few nights to get through, I’ve set my timer for an hour but have a feeling I may reset it so I can hear more.

I’m hoping the secret project was the rest of the series as audio books but I await you telling us x

And good news! I just got the final audiobook files for Book 3 yesterday, so it should be released in a month or so. I don’t have any control over exactly when, but at least it’s in the home stretch. And I just spoke to my narrator today, and Book 4 could be going into production as early as next week. It’s really happening – I’m so excited! 😀

You’re a new author for me so I didn’t know what to expect. I started Never Say Spy and was a little confused at first, but I carried on and finally realised what was going on. I’ve never been a sci-fi fan so I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but once the action really started I couldn’t put it down. I loved the assortment of characters. Your power of description is superb – particularly the references to their voice characteristics. That was a great touch. My favourite character in this book has to be Hellhound. I’ve still got his picture inside my head! I really enjoyed the adult attitude of the characters too. That made a really refreshing change. My only disappointment was the very sudden ending to the story. I knew it had to end, but it was too fast for me. Obviously I can’t wait to read the next one! Thank you.

    • Hi Jackie! It’s so great to hear that you were able to get into the story even without being a sci-fi fan. 🙂 And I’m happy that you liked Hellhound. He’s a big part of the series, and he’s my favourite character to write — I never know what’s going to come out of his mouth!

  9. Dear Dianne,

I just complered book 14 yesterday, and i am starting to go into withdrawl without my next fix. As a general point let me say that I love your books….the characters, the plots, the settins…everything. But there are a couple of points I would like to focus on in particular. I am a southern Albertan, now living in Medicine Hat but originally from the Turner Valley, Black Diamond, Okatoks area, and I lived in Calgary for a long time as well. It is a constant pleasure to see how you evoke the authentic taste and feel of this wonderfull part of the world. Second, i truly appreciate how all your characters model socially responsible behavior…do not ever drive after drinking and do not ever have unprtected recreational sex. A last, and minor, point has to do with the obligatory 2-4 steamy sex scenes in each book. They don/t offend me …in fact I enjoyed them in the first few books, but lately I have just been skipping past them.

Until I read some of yourr responses to various reader comments, I was certain that you had meticulously story boarded the entire series before you ever wrote book 1. I still partially maintain that suspicion, but even if its true I know you will never cop to it. Whatever the case, I hope you will keep writing these books for a long time and achieve greater and greater fame and success.

    All the very best.

    Like

    • Aw, thank you! I really appreciate your support and good wishes. It’s nice to “meet” another Albertan — you must have felt right at home with Aydan’s motorcycle cruise in Book 2 if you originally lived in that area. Alberta is such an interesting setting because no matter what time of the year it is, there’s always a chance of some devastating storm or unexpected beautiful weather… sometimes in the same day (as you well know)!

Sex scenes are always a tough choice for writers — I chose to include them because it’s a big part of how Aydan relates to John and Arnie when she’s unable to express her feelings otherwise; but that kind of content always carries the potential to turn readers off. I’m glad you’re able to read or skip over them without discomfort.

And you gave me a chuckle with your suspicions about storyboarding! I’m thrilled to hear that the series seems that well-planned. I’ll take that as a lovely compliment — thank you! 🙂

This is the best book I’ve read in awhile- and that’s a big deal for me. I read a book a week, (or less!) I loved Aydan the best, but I DID really get into the burly, biker softie Arnie. He has a way to any woman’s heart in a terrible situation, and always has your back. You have a great knack for developing characters.

Thanks for writing such awesome bokks. Can’t wait to read the next one!!!

    • That’s so great to hear – thank you, Kelly! Aydan and Kane have had an uphill battle together, and I’m not sure how it will turn out. Early in the series I was sure they’d end up together; then for a while I thought he might get back together with his ex for Daniel’s sake; and now… well, your guess is as good as mine. Just when I think I’ve got those two figured out, they go and do something entirely different. But their story isn’t over yet, so stay tuned. 🙂

I casually mentioned to my husband (who unlike me is not addicted to reading), that he might enjoy the book…kind of an SF take on adventure with a little healthy erotica thrown in. I just downloaded the last of the series for him! He’s hooked for sure….Aydan may be fantasy, but her flaws are real, and who can’t relate to the guns, the fighting arts, and OMG Arnie! i so love this female character who knows which end of the tool works. I’m a woodworker/cabinetmaker, so yay team! Carry on with the good times!

    • Hi Noelle! Hooray, another tool-wielding female – it’s great to “meet” you! I have huge respect for cabinetmakers and finish carpenters – you have FAR more patience with wood than I could ever muster. My woodworking skills run more to framing where I can use my chop saw and nail gun, although I’ve built a few kitchen drawers and pull-out shelves and lazy susans for my corner cabinets… but I made them out of melamine-clad particle board with melamine edge banding because I loathe sanding.

I’m thrilled to hear that you and your husband both enjoy Aydan and the gang! Arnie is one of my favourite characters to write, so I always get a warm fuzzy when I hear from another Arnie fan.

It is so interesting to read about Aydan’s adventures in areas that are so completely familiar. I fully intend to purchase the rest of the series as they make me laugh out loud, cry (Book 2 when I though Kane was dead) and identify with some of your characters. I have a cousin-in-law who is 6’9″, ugly as sin, rides a huge Harley, scares the bejesus out of my friends but has the kindest heart of anyone I’ve ever known. Oh, and also, I have an online sex toy client ‘O-zone’ which sometimes makes me roll my eyes and blush, lol! Keep writing and I’ll keep reading. THANKYOU!

Diane, I just stumbled into you yesterday and devoured book one and am starting book 2. Ayden is so badass. No drama. And she knows herself. A mature woman that takes no prisoners. And every man that meets her can’t help but fall a little in love with her. He’ll I know I did.r

    • Hi Dee! I’m so glad you enjoyed Aydan – I love writing her! Characters with lots of life experience (and associated baggage) are so much more fun to write than young ’uns. 😉 Thank you for taking the time to drop by and comment, and I hope you enjoy Book 2!
